EARTH HUM from RADLANDS on Vimeo.

E A R T H H U M

As the earth’s crust lies frozen along the north-eastern seaboard, Radlands Clothing prepares their forthcoming S/S 2013 line, Earth Hum. Ancient civilizations prophesied the end of the world would be MMXII, 2012. What is sometimes overlooked is the copious amounts of hallucinogenic plants that these ancient cultures would ingest to seek wisdom from the gods. Perhaps their predictions for THE END were really signs for a new beginning. Earth Hum takes cues from back to nature philosophies & new future possibilities. As the thaw approaches, a new day & new collection awaits from your friends at The Radlands.

Into the Thicket – Trailer from Sitka on Vimeo.

Into The Thicket

Seeing as I’ve been in Vancouver for the past month, it’s only appropriate to keep the North West love going. Soo many unique ideas and styles up here in god’s country. Beyond the metropolitan area, Vancouver is a city surrounded by white capped mountains, emerald green forests and bodies & bodies or water. This may scream camping or snowboarding more than skatebarding, but only to the unimaginative.

Creative folks over at Sitka know how to build a scenic spot in the bush. Sitka’s riders Chris Haslam, Todd Myers & Mat Howell filmed a video out in the forests or Vancouver Island which is coming soon, but here’s a taste of things to come.

Green & Wood “Blind Seer”

Comune made a video for Ethan Fowler’s band, Green & Wood a while back…guess this dank nugget slipped past us.

Purveyors of doom, Green & Wood are beasts.

Future Sentimentality ‘s ‘DIRGE’ opens Friday at Fjord Space!

Mark Dilks and Alex Nguyen Future Sentimentality opening at Fjord space!

Dilks and Nguyen integrate and distinguish video, sculpture and painting in order to highlight distance and intimacy in their current experience of media. The opening will also feature music by Philly’s own Circadian Rythms and surprise guests.

“Process is well worn like a beloved garment. The obscuring of objects under paint neutralizes an origin to create new terrain for reconfiguration, a desert as vista, barren but wide open. The suppression existing in these objects and paintings seeks transcendence through interrelation and engagement. The digital world engages us in a web of relations occurring at a very real and unfathomable speed; this techno-world provides a precious and precarious agar for paintings and objects to grow in. The elusive digital experience contains the duration embodied in the tangible totem. They are inverses; one containing many in real time, the other singular lost in time. Together they seem more real.”

Location: Fjord Space (2419 Frankford Ave)

Date: Friday Jan 4th 6pm (live music beginning at 8pm)
